As per news reports, the upcoming release of ₹20,500 crore will directly benefit 9.7 crore farmers, reaffirming the central focus on rural welfare and inclusive growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 20th instalment of the scheme from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. A total of ₹20,500 crore will be transferred to the accounts of around 9.7 crore eligible farmers. This marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the scheme, which has become a key pillar of financial assistance for the farming community.
Since the inception of the PM-Kisan scheme, the government has disbursed more than ₹3.69 lakh crore across 19 instalments. These transfers aim to reduce financial stress among small and marginal farmers and ensure regular income support for agricultural households.

The 20th instalment will be launched during a special event in Varanasi, the Prime Minister's parliamentary constituency. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, ICAR Director General Dr M L Jat, and other senior officials from the agriculture ministry.
With requirements such as e-KYC and Aadhaar linkage, the scheme also promotes digital integration in rural India. These steps help create a transparent and efficient mechanism to deliver public welfare.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, commonly known as PM-Kisan, is a central government initiative launched in 2019. It provides income support of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers across the country. This sum is paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 and is directly credited to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
