India will offer free e-visas to travellers from the Philippines, following the Philippines’ decision to allow visa-free entry for Indian tourists, as per news reports. The announcements were made after a bilateral meeting in New Delhi between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Air India will begin direct flights between Delhi and Manila starting October 1, 2025. The service will operate 5 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, using Airbus A321neo aircraft in a 3-class configuration: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.
The introduction of free e-visas by India and visa-free access by the Philippines is aimed at improving travel access for citizens of both countries. These changes are to support tourism, business travel, and exchange programmes.
As per reports, during the meeting in New Delhi, both countries agreed to upgrade their diplomatic relationship to a strategic partnership. A comprehensive action plan has been formulated to implement this partnership in specific sectors.
India and the Philippines are currently marking 75 years of diplomatic ties. To commemorate the occasion, a joint postage stamp was released by the 2 leaders during the bilateral meeting.
Philippines, President Marcos is on a 5-day state visit to India. Discussions during the visit focused on boosting cooperation in connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people engagement.

With simplified visa processes and the launch of direct flights, both governments are taking concrete steps to make travel easier between India and the Philippines. The changes are part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and mark 75 years of diplomatic engagement.
