Petrol and Diesel Sales Rise in September; LPG Sales Fall 9%

Higher vehicle sales helped push up petrol demand. Diesel use also increased as below-normal monsoon rainfall led to greater demand for irrigation, while economic activity supported diesel use for transport.
Petrol and Diesel Demand Goes Up
Petrol sales rose 7.2% from a year earlier in September, helped by higher vehicle sales.
Diesel sales increased 4.9%. Apart from irrigation needs, higher economic activity also added to diesel demand for mobility.
ATF Sales Stay Flat & LPG Sales Drop 9%
Sales of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) remained flat in September. The unchanged ATF sales are linked to subdued growth in air traffic during the month.
LPG sales fell 9% in September. LPG is mainly used for cooking in India. The decline continues with a trend that started after the war disrupted supplies.
