NHAI Rameshwar-Paradeep Coastal Highway Project Gets Strong Response With 17 Bids

The proposed Rameshwar-Paradeep coastal highway in Odisha has received a strong response from bidders for both its construction packages. The project is being developed over 160 km as a new coastal road.
The route will pass alongside and connect significant areas of the state such as tourist destinations and major port infrastructure.
Rameshwar-Konark Stretch Draws 10 Bids
The first package covers 79.4 km between Rameshwar and Konark and has received 10 bids. This section is planned as a four-lane access-controlled highway.
Further along the route, the 80.7-km Konark-Paradeep package has attracted 7 bids. Unlike the first stretch, this section will have two lanes along with paved shoulders.
Project Carries ₹8,300 Crore Cost
The coastal highway has a capital cost of ₹8,300 crore, with a design speed of 100 km per hour. The planned road will also offer another route alongside NH-16 and NH-316.
Several prominent locations fall along the connectivity plan, including Puri, Konark, Paradeep Port and the upcoming Puri International Airport. The route will also facilitate movement towards the developing ports of Astarang and Subarnarekha.
Wider Road Connectivity in Odisha
The highway will connect areas covering Khurda, Puri, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. It is also linked to a projected 2 hours and 30 minutes reduction in travel time between Rameshwar and Paradeep.
The project adds a dedicated coastal connection to a corridor that includes tourism centres, ports and other major infrastructure in Odisha.
