The 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 is set to take place on September 12, 2026, across India. This event will see benches established nationwide, from the Supreme Court to local district and taluk court complexes.

However, New Delhi will not participate on this date due to a postponement caused by court calendar changes and the upcoming BRICS Summit, as per news reports.

Nationwide Lok Adalat Schedule

On September 12, 2026, the National Lok Adalat will be held across India, with benches set up from the Supreme Court down to local district and taluk courts.

This initiative aims to expedite the resolution of various disputes through a streamlined process.

Cases eligible for settlement include traffic challans, cheque bounce cases, bank loan recovery, labour disputes, family disputes (excluding divorce), and utility bills.

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) facilitates both pre-litigation and pending court cases.

Exception for New Delhi

New Delhi will not participate in the Lok Adalat on September 12, 2026. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority initially has postponed the event to October 10, 2026, and has been rescheduled to October 25, 2026, due to the BRICS Summit and changes in the court calendar.

This exception ensures that the event does not conflict with the summit, allowing for smooth proceedings in the national capital.

Benefits of Attending Lok Adalat

Attending the Lok Adalat offers several advantages. There are no court fees, and if a pending court case is settled, the original court fee is refunded.

The decision reached is mutually agreed upon by both parties and holds the same weight as a formal civil court decree, with no option for further appeal.

Conclusion

The 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be held on September 12, 2026, across India, except in New Delhi, where it is postponed to October 25, 2026. The event facilitates the resolution of various disputes, offering benefits such as no court fees and finality in decisions.
