The Maharashtra government has signed a memorandum of understanding with AM Intelligence Labs Private Limited for a large-scale digital infrastructure project. The proposal involves an investment of ₹1.14 lakh crore in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The project will establish an Integrated Green Data Centre Park along with a dedicated AI Compute Hub to support advanced technology requirements. The agreement was formalised on May 14, 2026, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, according to an official statement.

Project Scope And Investment Details

The project is designed to create a comprehensive digital infrastructure ecosystem in the Mumbai region. It includes both a Green Data Centre Park and an AI Compute Hub to handle large-scale computing and storage requirements.

The total proposed investment of ₹1.14 lakh crore reflects the scale and long-term nature of the initiative. The entire facility is planned to operate on renewable energy, aligning with sustainability requirements and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

Capacity And Implementation Timeline

The proposed infrastructure will have a total planned capacity of 500 MW, indicating a significant level of data processing power. The project will be implemented in 2 phases to ensure structured execution and scalability.

The first phase will involve a capacity of 200 MW and is expected to be completed by 2028. The second phase will add 300 MW and is targeted for completion by 2030, completing the full deployment of the project.

AI Infrastructure and Technology Deployment

The facility will deploy approximately 2.5 lakh high-performance AI chipsets as part of its computing infrastructure. This large-scale deployment is aimed at supporting advanced artificial intelligence workloads across multiple sectors.

The AI Compute Hub is expected to enable applications such as machine learning, automation, and data analytics. The project reflects increasing demand for high-performance computing infrastructure in India’s growing digital and technology ecosystem.

Employment Generation and Policy Support

The project is expected to generate around 8,000 direct employment opportunities in technology-driven roles. These roles will include software engineers, data scientists, and operations professionals involved in managing complex infrastructure.

Additionally, nearly 2,000 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase of the project. The development will be undertaken under Maharashtra's Information Technology Policy, 2023, and the Green Integrated Data Centre Park Policy, 2024, ensuring regulatory alignment and policy support.
