Innovation Platform Capital (IPC) Proposes ₹83,480 Crore Green Hydrogen and Data Centre Plan in Karnataka

Luxembourg-based Innovation Platform Capital (IPC) has proposed to invest ₹83,480 crore in Karnataka over three phases, covering data centres, renewable energy and green hydrogen, as per The Economic Times news report.
The proposal was discussed at a meeting between Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil and a company delegation led by Gursharan Singh Kundan, Managing Partner and Chairman of IPC Global.
Bengaluru-Tumakuru Project
The company has proposed an integrated project in the Bengaluru-Tumakuru region, combining hyperscale data centres with green hydrogen and power infrastructure.
Across the three phases, the proposal envisages 2,250 MW of IT load and 1,000 MW of green hydrogen capacity. The present proposal is for the first phase of the planned investment.
First Phase Investment
IPC has proposed a gross investment of ₹17,114 crore for the first phase. This would include two data centre campuses with a capacity of 200 MW each.
The first phase would therefore add 400 MW of data centre capacity. It would also include a 500 MW green hydrogen and power complex.
1,000 Acres Sought
The company has sought 1,000 acres of land for the first phase. Around 400 acres each have been proposed for the data centre campuses and the green power complex.
The remaining 200 acres would be kept for safety and environmental buffers, including a separation zone around the proposed hydrogen facility.
Water Requirement
The project is expected to require around 13 million litres of water a day. IPC plans to primarily use treated industrial or CETP effluent for its water needs.
The company has proposed recycling 80-85% of the water used. Borewell water would be used only as a limited backup, if required.
Company Delegation
The delegation that met Patil also included IPC CEO Pradeep Karatagi, Managing Partner James Coulter, Managing Director Edsa Cabrera and India Head of Corporate Affairs DK Arjun.
The proposed investment is spread over three phases, while the ₹17,114 crore first phase covers the initial data centre and green hydrogen facilities.
