The Centre added 483 infrastructure projects during the January-March quarter of FY26, compared with 38 projects in the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The combined original cost of these projects stood at ₹6.01 lakh crore.

In comparison, projects added during the fourth quarter of FY25 carried a total cost of ₹93,213 crore. The latest figures show a substantial increase in both the number of projects and the value of investments entering the government's infrastructure pipeline.

Roads and Highways Lead New Approvals

Roads and highways accounted for the largest share of fresh project additions during the quarter. Out of the 483 projects added, 439 were related to the sector.

The projects carried an original cost of ₹4.13 lakh crore, representing nearly 69% of the total value of all projects added during the quarter.

The Guwahati Ring Road project in Assam, with an approved cost of ₹5,729 crore, was among the notable additions.

Power, Coal and Water Projects Added

Water resources projects worth ₹24,086 crore were also added. The Ken-Betwa Linking Development Project accounted for ₹21,030 crore of the total.
