The Indian Railways is prioritising passenger comfort and accessibility through enhanced production of modern general and non-AC coaches, expanded train services, safety investments, and technology-driven improvements aimed at everyday travellers across the country.

Coach Production and Fleet Expansion

Railways has achieved a record output of modern LHB general and non-AC coaches designed to offer better comfort and higher capacity for common passengers.

These coaches aim to address rising travel demand while keeping fares affordable. Production plans for the current and next financial years include thousands of additional coaches, underpinning ongoing modernisation of the passenger fleet.

Operational Enhancements and Connectivity

To support crowd management and seasonal travel needs, Indian Railways operated over 43,000 special train trips in 2025, covering major festivals and peak travel periods.

The expansion includes 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains and two Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services, strengthening regional and high-frequency connectivity on key routes.

Technology-Driven Ticketing Reforms

The railways has strengthened ticketing integrity by integrating Aadhaar verification into digital ticket bookings.

As a result, millions of suspicious or inactive user accounts have been deactivated or suspended to ensure fair access to confirmed tickets and reduce misuse of the e-ticketing system.

Safety Investments and Passenger Facilities

Passenger safety has remained a major focus, with a significant portion of allocated safety funds already utilised. Consequential train accidents have declined sharply over recent years, while deployment of fog safety devices and expansion of passenger holding areas at major stations enhance comfort and crowd management.
