Indian Railways reports 9% year-on-year growth in freight loading for July 2026. Iron ore, coal and food grains led the increase, while freight revenue rose by over ₹1,100 crore.

Indian Railways recorded freight loading of 141.3 million tonnes (MT) in July 2026, up 9% from 129.7 MT in July 2025. This was driven by higher transportation of iron ore, coal, food grains, fertilizers and other commodities.

Iron ore recorded the highest year-on-year increase among major commodities. Coal transportation also increased, including higher domestic coal movement to power plants. Food grains, fertilizers and other freight categories registered double-digit growth.
