The Department of Posts (DoP), which operates the India Post brand, reported revenue of ₹4,202 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as per news reports.

This was 25% higher than the ₹3,355 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia shared the figures on Thursday. Revenue increased by nearly 5% from the previous quarter.

According to Scindia, this is the first time India Post has recorded revenue above ₹4,000 crore for two consecutive quarters.

Parcel Services Lead Segment Growth

Parcel services recorded 71% growth during the September quarter. Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) grew by 44% compared with the same quarter last year.

The International Business segment reported 38% growth over the September 2025 quarter. The figures released by the minister showed growth across all three business segments.

First-Half Revenue Increases to ₹8,213 Crore

Revenue for the first half of FY27 stood at approximately ₹8,213 crore, up nearly 24% from around ₹6,500 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Scindia said the department had also improved its expenditure coverage ratio (ECR), excluding pension costs. The ratio reached 62% in the September 2026 quarter, compared with 54% in the same quarter last year.

The eight-percentage-point increase indicates that revenue covered a larger share of the department's expenditure, excluding pension costs, than it did a year earlier.

Bihar, West Bengal and North-East Circles

Scindia identified Bihar, West Bengal and the North-East as the three postal circles that had performed across business areas and exceeded expectations. He did not disclose separate revenue figures for these circles.

India Post's second-quarter revenue stood at ₹4,202 crore, while first-half revenue reached approximately ₹8,213 crore.

The department also reported higher expenditure coverage, excluding pension costs, alongside growth in parcel services, insurance, and international business.
