India, Australia and Canada have formalised a trilateral partnership for technology and innovation called the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership. The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, green energy, and resilient supply chains.
The ACITI Partnership seeks to amplify existing bilateral initiatives by adding a trilateral framework that leverages each country's unique strengths. With a strong emphasis on achieving net-zero goals and sustainable growth, the countries will jointly work on the mass adoption of artificial intelligence, renewable technologies and the development of secure supply chains for critical minerals. This marks a strategic step in fostering a resilient and innovation-driven ecosystem.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the partnership is expected to promote diversification of supply chains, particularly in critical minerals required for producing batteries, electronics and renewable energy systems.
As countries increasingly aim to lower dependency on specific regions, this alliance boosts efforts towards establishing secure, sustainable and resilient supply routes. It aligns with the broader global goal of economic self-reliance and climate-conscious development.

Artificial Intelligence for Public Good
Another pillar of the ACITI Partnership is the responsible development and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. The countries will explore avenues through which AI can enhance governance and public services, improve healthcare access and strengthen societal well-being. Strategies will focus on creating AI systems that are inclusive, ethical and impactful for everyday citizens.
The leaders have agreed that officials from the 3 nations will convene in the first quarter of 2026 to discuss concrete steps for implementing the partnership. The event is expected to outline joint working groups, innovation frameworks, and research exchange mechanisms among academic and industrial sectors.
The India-Australia-Canada ACITI Partnership lays the foundation for a collaborative future in technology, clean energy and innovation. As global digital interdependence grows, this move enhances trilateral cooperation with shared goals of sustainability, security and economic stability.
