
India and Russia have fortified their longstanding partnership by signing crucial agreements in the energy, labour, and health sectors.
This development follows a bilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the enduring relationship between the two nations.
Energy security remains a cornerstone of India-Russia relations. The agreements signed aim to enhance collaboration in civil nuclear energy, contributing to clean energy initiatives. Both countries also emphasised the importance of cooperation in critical minerals, essential for a diverse and reliable global supply chain.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of these agreements, stating, "Our collaboration in civil nuclear energy has spanned decades and contributed to clean energy." This partnership is expected to bolster energy security and sustainability for both nations.
President Putin expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by India, emphasising the priority of building connectivity between the 2 countries. Initiatives like the International North–South Transport Corridor, the Northern Sea Route, and the Chennai–Vladivostok Maritime Corridor are set to receive renewed focus.
Additionally, the Vision 2030 document was signed to further economic cooperation, with both leaders participating in the India–Russia Business Forum. This platform aims to strengthen business relations and explore new avenues for co-production and co-innovation.
