
The Department of Health Research (DHR) has commenced Medical Colleges Research Connect 2026, a 2-day national conference aimed at strengthening India’s biomedical research ecosystem.
As per news reports, the event, held on 26-27 February 2026 in New Delhi, underscores a ₹4,800 crore commitment towards advancing health research infrastructure.
The conference was inaugurated by Anupriya Patel at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, Chanakyapuri. More than 100 medical colleges from across the country are participating, each having established Medical Colleges Research Units under a central initiative designed to build health research capacity.
Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission, attended as Guest of Honour. During her address, Patel reiterated the government’s resolve to promote health research and encouraged faculty members to elevate the quality of scientific output in alignment with the goal of Viksit Bharat.
Across the 2 days, representatives are presenting institutional research updates and engaging in workshops, lectures and thematic discussions. Sessions focus on improving grant proposal writing, exploring training pathways and understanding technical dimensions of biomedical investigation.
The forum is to foster peer learning, enhance institutional capabilities and strengthen the ability of medical colleges to deliver high-quality biomedical research.
