If you're a regular commuter on India’s National Highways, there’s a major change in toll payments beginning August 15, 2025. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a new FASTag-based annual toll pass designed to make travel more convenient and cost-effective for private vehicle owners.
The FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,000 and is valid for one year or 200 toll-free trips, whichever comes first. It applies to non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans and will be accepted at designated toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways.
However, regular FASTag charges will still apply on State Highways, state-managed expressways, and roads maintained by local bodies.
You can activate the FASTag annual pass through:
This move is aimed at simplifying toll collection and reducing waiting time at toll booths for frequent travellers. It could lead to lower overall toll costs for those who regularly use National Highways, especially on long-distance or daily intercity routes.
The new FASTag annual pass is a welcome initiative by NHAI to ease travel for private vehicle owners. With easy activation via the Rajmargyatra app or NHAI website and 200 toll-free trips included, it’s an attractive option for frequent highway users.
