The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has officially denied recent reports suggesting a potential hike in petrol and diesel prices.
These reports have been labelled as false and misleading by the ministry, which assures that no such proposal is under consideration by the government.
The MoPNG has clarified that the rumours about an impending increase in fuel prices are unfounded. The ministry emphasised that such reports are designed to create unnecessary fear and panic among the public.
It reiterated that the government has not considered any proposal to raise petrol and diesel prices.
India stands out as a country where petrol and diesel prices have remained stable over the past 4 years.
This stability is attributed to the government's efforts and the Oil Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to shield citizens from the volatility of international crude oil prices.

Despite tensions in the Strait of Hormuz causing a surge in crude oil prices, the Indian government has managed to maintain domestic fuel prices.
This has been a significant relief for consumers, although it has increased pressure on refiners, with an estimated incremental impact of around ₹27,000 crore per month.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has firmly denied any plans to increase petrol and diesel prices, dismissing such reports as misleading. The government continues to focus on maintaining price stability, despite international pressures.
