India recorded 173,294 electric two-wheeler registrations in July, up 68% from a year earlier, according to The Moneycontrol news report citing the Government's Vahan portal data as of July 29, 2026. On a monthly basis, registrations declined 11% from 194,300 units in June 2026.
Even with the sequential decline, monthly registrations remained above 1.5 lakh units for the fourth time in the last 5 months. The latest figures were also higher than the 105,620 units recorded in May 2025 and 111,441 units in June 2025.
TVS Motor retained the top position in the electric two-wheeler segment during July 2026. The company registered 47,242 vehicles, taking its market share to 27.3%, up from 24.3% in June.
Bajaj Auto followed with 38,974 registrations and a market share of 22.5%. Ather Energy remained in third place with 25,907 units, accounting for 14.9% of industry registrations. Hero MotoCorp's Vida brand registered 18,611 units, giving it a 10.7% share.
Ola Electric reported 11,880 vehicle registrations in July 2026. Its market share fell to 6.9% from 8.3% in June 2026, continuing the decline from nearly 18% recorded during May 2025 and June 2025. The company ranked 5th in monthly registrations.
While registrations more than doubled from 4,035 units in February 2026 to 11,880 units in July 2026, the company recorded lower volumes than in June and continued to lose market share to larger competitors.
Manufacturers grouped under the "Others" category registered 30,680 vehicles during the month, contributing 17.7% of total industry volumes. This compares with 34,308 units recorded in June.
Industry volumes eased after a stronger June 2026, when several manufacturers offered discounts and promotional schemes. The withdrawal of some of these offers contributed to lower registrations in July 2026, although overall volumes remained substantially higher than the corresponding period last year.
