The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 1.93 million new members in June 2025, according to provisional payroll data released by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This shows a 10.6% drop compared to June 2024, when 2.16 million new members were added.
Out of the total new members, around 958,000 were young employees under the age of 25. This means nearly 49.5% of all new additions in June were youth, showing strong participation from the younger workforce. In comparison to May 2025, where 946,000 young people joined, this marks a small 1.2% increase.
This trend shows that more young people are entering formal employment and becoming part of the social security system.
Gender-wise data reveals that 413,000 women joined the ESIC scheme in June 2025. In addition, 87 transgender employees were also registered under the scheme during the same period.
This reflects ESIC’s commitment to covering all sections of society, including women and the transgender community, and promoting inclusive growth.
In June 2025, around 34,672 new establishments were brought under the ESIC’s social security net. This helps expand coverage and benefits to more employees across the country.
The ESIC scheme provides support during emergencies, medical needs, maternity, and disability. It is one of the most important social protection schemes for employees in India.

Despite a slight drop in total enrolments compared to last year, the ESIC's June 2025 data shows positive trends in youth, women, and transgender participation. With over 1.93 million new members and more than 34,000 new establishments joining, the ESIC continues to grow and reach more workers. The rise in young and diverse workforce inclusion is a sign of progress toward a more secure and inclusive employment system in India.
