The Ministry of Labour and Employment’s e-Shram portal has achieved a major milestone with more than 30.95 crore unorganised workers registered by July 22, 2025. This initiative offers unified access to multiple welfare schemes by linking Aadhaar-verified profiles and streamlining benefits to India's vast informal workforce.

30.95 Crore Unorganised Workers

Launched on August 26, 2021, the e-Shram portal aims to develop a National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW). With Aadhaar-based verification and issuance of a Universal Account Number (UAN), the portal provides a unique identity to workers. As of July 22, 2025, registrations exceeded 30.95 crore, marking a significant step in social inclusion and government service delivery to informal workers.

One-Stop Solution for Social Security Access

Following the vision of Budget 2024–25, the e-Shram “One-Stop-Solution” launched on October 21, 2024, integrates 14 key welfare schemes into the portal. These include PMSVANidhi, PMSBY, PMJJBY, NFBS, MGNREGS, PMAY both Gramin and Urban, AB-PMJAY, PMMSY, PM-KMY, ONORC, and PMMVY. Registered workers can view and monitor benefits directly through their profiles.

More Integrations for Access and Awareness

In addition to welfare schemes, the portal is now connected with platforms like PM-SYM, NCS, SIDH, UMANG, DigiLocker, myScheme and OGD, creating a digital bridge for unorganised sectors. This integration supports skills, employment, and documentation in a single ecosystem, simplifying the use of public services.

Empowering the Informal Workforce

The e-Shram platform not only helps in universal access to services but also enables policymakers to tailor interventions more efficiently. With over 30.95 crore profiles, it represents one of the world's largest depositories of informal sector data.

Conclusion

The government’s e-Shram initiative has successfully digitised the presence of more than 30.95 crore unorganised workers. Its “One-Stop-Solution” approach empowers the informal sector with centralised, transparent, and simplified access to vital social security schemes and services.
