Delhi’s Electric Vehicle charging network has crossed 10,000 points, following additions over the past year.

As per PTI report, officials said more than 3,000 charging points were installed in recent months. The increase comes alongside a steady rise in electric vehicle registrations across the city.

Installations by Discoms

Power distribution companies account for a large share of the rollout. BSES discoms, BRPL and BYPL have installed over 6,500 charging points and battery swapping stations across more than 3,400 locations.

The network comprises 3,217 private charging points, 2,870 public charging points, and 465 captive units.

Battery swapping stations total 340. In 2025-26, BSES added over 1,600 charging points and swapping stations across 1,241 locations.

North Delhi Demand Centres

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has energised 3,783 EV connections to date. Of these, 1,641 connections were added during 2025-26, including public charging and battery swapping units.

Areas such as Rohini, Pitampura, Civil Lines, Model Town and Shalimar Bagh account for nearly 63% of installations in North Delhi. Locations including Bawana, Narela and Kirari have lower coverage and remain areas for further expansion.

Rise in Electricity Demand

Electricity consumption linked to EV charging has increased over time. In BSES-served areas, charging load has risen from 24 MW in FY2018-19 to 227.48 MW at present. The load is projected to reach 375 MW over the next two years.

Delhi accounts for 24.1% of India’s public EV charging electricity consumption, at 239.63 million units out of 992.73 million units nationally. BSES contributes 124.20 million units, or about 52% of the city’s total.

Policy and Infrastructure

Officials attributed the pace of expansion to policy clarity and implementation. The draft EV policy includes provisions for expanding charging infrastructure and power supply systems to meet demand.
