Delhi EV Push: CM Rekha Gupta Unveils 150 E-Buses and Charging Stations

Delhi’s public transport fleet has grown with the addition of 150 electric buses launched by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Tuesday (October 13, 2026), as per news reports. The buses were flagged off from Swami Vivekanand ISBT in Anand Vihar.
Four high-capacity charging stations were also inaugurated at Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depots as part of the rollout.
Charging Facilities at Four Depots
The stations are located at Nand Nagri, Rohini Sector-37, Nangloi and Keshopur. Each is part of the charging infrastructure being added to support Delhi’s electric bus network.
Yadav said Anand Vihar was a pollution hotspot and noted that all 11 action points recommended by the Union Environment Ministry had been implemented in the area.
Electric Buses Make Up Most of Delhi’s Fleet
The 150 new buses take Delhi’s electric bus count to 5,238. The city now has 6,988 buses in total, including 1,750 CNG buses.
DTC’s overall fleet is projected to grow to nearly 14,000 buses by FY2028-29. The expansion would increase the size of the transport network beyond its current strength.
