The Central Government has extended the anti-dumping duty applicable to aluminium foil imports from four countries. The decision ensures that the levy remains in force until December 15, 2026, while an ongoing review of the measure continues.

Duty To Continue on Aluminium Foil Imports

The extension applies to aluminium foil of 80 micron and below originating in or exported from China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

The Ministry of Finance issued a notification amending the existing anti-dumping duty framework and stated that the levy will remain effective up to and including December 15, 2026.

The anti-dumping duty was originally notified through Notification No. 51/2021-Customs (ADD) dated September 16, 2021.

Review Process Underway

The continuation of the duty comes during an ongoing Sunset Review being conducted by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR).

The review was initiated on September 29, 2025, to examine the continuation of the anti-dumping measure covering imports of aluminium foil from the 4 countries. As part of the process, the DGTR conducted an oral hearing on April 28, 2026, where interested parties were given an opportunity to present their views.

Industry Participants Had Sought Extension

Several companies, including Hindalco Industries and SRF Altech, had sought continuation of the anti-dumping duty.

The extension ensures that the existing levy remains applicable while the review process is completed and a final determination is made regarding the measure.

Countries Covered Under the Measure

The anti-dumping duty continues to apply to imports of aluminium foil from China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

The product covered under the measure is aluminium foil of 80 micron and below originating in or exported from these countries.
