The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Deputy Director General from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a bribery case involving ₹2.5 lakh.

The arrest also included a representative from a private company, highlighting corruption within the aviation sector.

Details of the Bribery Case

On April 18, 2026, the CBI registered a case against the DGCA official and a private company representative based in New Delhi.

The allegations suggest that the public servant demanded an undue advantage from private individuals in exchange for issuing approvals and permissions for pending applications with the DGCA.

The CBI successfully caught the accused and recovered the entire bribe amount.

Search Operations and Seizures

Following the arrests, CBI conducted searches at 4 locations in Delhi linked to the accused public servant and other private individuals.

During these searches, officials recovered cash worth ₹37 lakh, gold and silver coins, and multiple digital devices, indicating a larger network of corruption.

Additional Arrest in a Separate Case

In a separate incident, the CBI arrested the Superintendent of Post, Department of Post, in New Delhi on April 17, 2026.

The official was caught demanding and accepting ₹10,000 from complainants to stop their branch transfer and sanction their leave.

This arrest further underscores the ongoing efforts to curb corruption within public services.

Conclusion

The CBI's recent arrests of a DGCA Deputy Director General and a postal department official highlight persistent issues of bribery and corruption within public services. These actions demonstrate the agency's commitment to addressing such malpractices and ensuring accountability.
