The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 6-lane greenfield access-controlled corridor connecting Nashik, Solapur, and Akkalkot in Maharashtra.
This ₹19,142 crore project spans 374 km and aims to enhance regional connectivity and logistics efficiency.
The Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor is designed to improve travel efficiency and reduce travel time by 17 hours. The project will connect key regional cities, including Nashik, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur, and link to major corridors such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Agra-Mumbai corridor.
This infrastructure development aligns with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, facilitating integrated transport infrastructure.
The corridor is expected to generate approximately 251.06 lakh man-days of direct employment and 313.83 lakh man-days of indirect employment. The project will also stimulate additional employment opportunities due to increased economic activity in the surrounding regions.
The enhanced connectivity will improve logistics efficiency for freight originating and terminating at major National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation nodes.
The 6-lane access-controlled corridor will feature close tolling and support average vehicular speeds of 60 km/h, with a design speed of 100 km/h.
This will significantly reduce travel time, congestion, and operating costs, offering safer and faster connectivity for both passenger and freight vehicles.

By providing a high-speed corridor, the project aims to facilitate uninterrupted traffic movement and improve safety standards.
The Cabinet's approval of the Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor marks a significant step in improving regional connectivity and logistics efficiency in Maharashtra. The project is set to enhance infrastructure and economic development, benefiting both passenger and freight transport.
