Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, inaugurated seven new trains in Bihar, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains.
With this launch, Bihar now operates 26 of the 30 Amrit Bharat Express services across India. These trains enhance connectivity between Bihar and other regions, particularly North and South India, offering passengers a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel experience.
Notable launches include the Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli Express, the first Amrit Bharat train connecting Bihar to South India, and the Chhapra–Anand Vihar Express, the sixth Amrit Bharat train linking Bihar to Delhi.
Developed by Indian Railways, these trains feature advanced technology like semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talk-back units in non-AC coaches, marking a milestone in passenger safety and comfort.
To improve regional travel, four passenger trains were also flagged off: Patna–Buxar, Jhajha–Danapur, Nawada–Patna, and Patna–Islampur. These services cater to daily commuters, enhancing convenience and connectivity within Bihar.
Significant infrastructure projects have been completed since 2014, including the Patna, Munger, and Kosi Rail-cum-Road Bridges, as well as several new lines and gauge conversions. Key projects under execution include new lines in Sakri–Hasanpur, Khagaria–Kusheshwarsthan, and Chhapra–Muzaffarpur, along with doubling and 3rd/4th line works across major routes. Bihar also benefits from Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services, further improving mobility.
These new trains are expected to boost economic activity, tourism, trade, and employment in the state. They align with the vision of “Viksit Bihar Se Viksit Bharat,” strengthening Bihar’s infrastructure and positioning it as a major hub for development.
