With August 2025 approaching, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the official bank holiday list for the month. Across India, banks, both public and private, will observe 15 holidays, including national festivals such as Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Janmashtami, along with several regional occasions and the regular weekend offs.
As per RBI guidelines, all banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, along with all Sundays. In August, these weekend closures fall on August 3, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, and 31.
Besides weekend offs, several cultural and religious events will see banks closed in specific states.
Even on holidays, digital banking services remain operational, including net banking, mobile banking, UPI payments, and ATM withdrawals. However, transactions involving instruments covered under the Negotiable Instruments Act, such as cheques and promissory notes, cannot be processed on these days.

While August 2025 brings several national and regional holidays, banking services remain accessible through digital platforms. Customers should check with their local branches for state-specific holidays to avoid last-minute disruptions and plan their financial needs in advance, especially during extended weekends.
