Crude Oil Prices Rise for Fourth Session After Fresh Iran Attacks | September 9, 2026

Crude Oil prices rose by more than $1 in early trade on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as fresh attacks between Iran and the United States added to concerns over a prolonged conflict and possible disruptions to crude supplies, as per news reports.
Brent crude futures gained $1.57, or 1.6%, to $99.49 a barrel by 0001 GMT. US West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.60, or 1.72%, to $94.63 a barrel.
Iran Launches Fresh Attacks
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they attacked two US destroyers and a US base in Jordan's Al Azraq using ballistic missiles. The attacks were described as retaliation for US strikes on Iranian oil tankers.
Jordan's air-defence systems intercepted 18 of the 20 ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory. The remaining two missiles landed in unpopulated areas, with no casualties reported, according to the country's state news agency.
US Warns of Further Tanker Strikes
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would continue targeting Iranian oil tankers in response to attempted attacks on US naval vessels.
The warning came after US Central Command said its forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers on September 8. The strikes followed attempted missile attacks on a US Navy warship over the previous two days.

Oil Prices Gain 25% Since Early August 2026
Brent crude has gained around 25% since early August as expectations of a permanent settlement to the six-month-old war have weakened. Renewed fighting has added further pressure to oil markets, with traders watching developments across the Gulf for signs of potential disruption to crude flows.
Conclusion
Oil prices extended their gains as the latest Iran-US attacks increased concerns about the duration of the conflict and its potential impact on crude supplies. Brent crude is now close to the $100-a-barrel level, while further military developments could continue to influence prices.
