Crude Oil prices rose on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) as concerns over supply disruptions grew following fresh attacks on Saudi Arabia and the continued shutdown of the kingdom’s East-West pipeline, as per news reports.

Brent crude futures rose $1.24, or 1.18%, to US$106.93 a barrel at 0026 GMT after gaining 1% in the previous session. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures climbed $1.29, or 1.24%, to US$102.65 a barrel, following a 1.3% increase on Monday.

Saudi Pipeline Outage Raises Supply Risks

Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia on Monday (September 14, 2026), targeting the Khamis Mushait military airbase. The strikes reportedly hit aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways, and ammunition depots.

The attacks followed strikes on Friday that disrupted Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. The pipeline is important for exports because it allows the kingdom to move crude towards the Red Sea while avoiding the Strait of Hormuz.

Saudi Arabia could begin running short of oil available for export within days if the pipeline remains offline. The system can reroute around 4 million barrels per day to Yanbu, equivalent to roughly 4% of global oil supply.

Strait of Hormuz Disruptions Add to Concerns

Shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz has also fallen sharply. Commodity vessel traffic dropped to fewer than 10 transits a day over the weekend, compared with a 10-day average of 14.

The waterway normally carries about one-fifth of global oil supplies, making any prolonged disruption a major concern for energy markets.

Ukraine Energy Ceasefire Proposal

Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv was prepared to support a US proposal for a ceasefire covering energy infrastructure, provided Washington could establish that Moscow was genuinely willing to end the war in Ukraine.

Conclusion

Oil prices remain sensitive to developments across the Middle East as attacks and infrastructure disruptions threaten supply routes. The duration of the Saudi pipeline outage and the level of activity through the Strait of Hormuz will remain key factors for crude markets.
