About Renfra Energy India
Renfra Energy India Limited, originally incorporated in 2017 as Renfra Power Private Limited, is a Chennai-based renewable energy solutions company. It develops and executes greenfield projects in solar power, wind energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for commercial, industrial and utility-scale customers.
The company provides end-to-end Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, covering the entire project lifecycle. Its work includes acquiring land, obtaining regulatory approvals, arranging grid connectivity, installing high-voltage transmission lines and commissioning equipment. This allows Renfra to deliver renewable energy projects on a turnkey basis.
Renfra also provides long-term Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services after project completion. These services include asset management and predictive maintenance, helping customers maintain reliable operations, improve system performance and maximise power generation from their solar, wind and hybrid energy assets.
Industry Outlook
- India’s non-fossil fuel capacity has crossed 300 GW, supporting the country’s target of reaching 500 GW by 2030. This is expected to drive more solar and wind tenders, creating opportunities for renewable energy EPC companies.
- The market is moving beyond standalone solar and wind projects towards hybrid systems, Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This is increasing demand for EPC players with expertise in battery integration, grid connectivity and power management.
- Government schemes such as PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana are accelerating rooftop solar adoption. The growing number of household installations is creating opportunities for EPC companies with strong distribution networks and decentralised project execution capabilities.
- Corporate net-zero targets and policies such as Green Energy Open Access are encouraging commercial and industrial companies to source renewable power directly. This is creating more opportunities for EPC companies to secure private-sector projects.
- Domestic sourcing requirements such as ALMM-II are encouraging the use of locally manufactured solar cells and modules. While this supports the domestic supply chain, EPC companies may face challenges related to component availability and price fluctuations.
- Technologies such as bifacial solar modules, single-axis trackers and AI-based predictive maintenance are becoming increasingly common. EPC companies offering digital O&M and asset optimisation services can also generate recurring revenue after project completion.
Renfra Energy India IPO Objectives
- ₹160 crore will be used to redeem existing Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs), helping the company reduce its debt burden and finance costs.
- ₹70 crore will fund additional working capital requirements, including procurement of solar modules, inverters and sub-station equipment for ongoing EPC projects.
- The remaining IPO proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including business expansion, technology investments and other operational requirements.

Strengths and Opportunities for Renfra Energy India IPO
- Renfra completes solar projects in 100–110 days against scheduled timelines of 120–150 days, while wind projects are completed in 150–180 days against 180–220 days, demonstrating strong execution capabilities.
- The company handles the entire project lifecycle, including load flow studies, feasibility assessment, land procurement, design, engineering, grid connectivity, construction, installation, testing and commissioning, giving it greater control over timelines and costs.
- Renfra secures grid connectivity before project commissioning and evaluates substation capacity and land availability within an 8-km radius of the grid location, helping reduce connectivity-related execution delays.
- The company had 72 customers as of May 15, 2026, including 10 customers with relationships of more than four years and 25 customers with relationships of two to four years, indicating an established customer base.
- Repeat customers accounted for 278.20 MW out of 601.45 MW of total solar and wind project orders, or around 46%, highlighting customer retention and satisfaction.
- Renfra works with 128 solar component suppliers and 31 wind component suppliers, providing multiple sourcing options and reducing dependence on individual vendors.
- The company follows a vendor empanelment process that evaluates suppliers on pricing, reliability, production capacity, quality standards, warranties and operational track record, supporting consistent procurement and project execution.
- Promoters and senior management have substantial industry experience, with Muthuraj Periyasamy and Jayendran each having more than 17 years of experience in the renewable energy sector.
- The company had 457 permanent employees as of May 15, 2026, supporting its project execution, procurement, operations and maintenance capabilities.

Risks and Threats for Renfra Energy India IPO
- All ongoing projects are located in Tamil Nadu, while completed projects are concentrated across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. As of May 15, 2026, the company had 462.35 MW of completed projects and 139.10 MW of ongoing projects, exposing it heavily to regional economic, regulatory, political and environmental risks.
- Solar and wind projects contributed 98.36%, 96.70% and 98.46% of revenue from operations in FY2026, FY2025 and FY2024, respectively. Any slowdown in demand for renewable energy solutions, particularly from commercial and industrial customers, could significantly impact revenue.
- Project execution and power generation depend on sunlight and wind conditions, while cyclones in Tamil Nadu can disrupt operations. Prolonged adverse weather could delay projects, reduce generation and affect financial performance.
- The company relies on external suppliers for solar modules, cells, wind turbine generators and other critical equipment. Supply disruptions or sharp increases in component prices could raise project costs, delay execution and pressure margins.
- Projects require timely approvals, connectivity and evacuation infrastructure from government authorities and entities such as TNGECL and TANGEDCO. Delays in connectivity, synchronization or project awards could affect project execution and future order visibility. The company had 465.50 MW of load flow study awards awaiting execution as of the DRHP.
- Wind projects contributed 34.57% of revenue in FY2026, up from 16.78% in FY2025, compared with no revenue in FY2024. However, the wind segment is relatively new, with only 49.50 MW of completed wind projects as of May 15, 2026, creating execution and scaling risks.
- The company is responsible for procuring land for both solar and wind projects under its turnkey model. Delays in identifying, acquiring or retaining suitable land can increase project costs and postpone execution.
- The company has reported negative cash flows in certain previous periods, particularly from operating and investing activities. Timing mismatches between customer collections and supplier payments, high working capital requirements, inventory build-up and bank guarantee requirements could continue to strain liquidity.
