Industry Outlook
- The Indian wires and cables market was valued at USD 9.32 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow from USD 10.01 billion in 2025 to USD 17.08 billion by 2032, registering a compound annual growth rate of 7.94% during the forecast period.
- Rising investments in power generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure are driving demand for wires and cables. Grid expansion, increasing electricity requirements, and the need to connect power generation facilities with end consumers are expected to support market growth.
- The expansion of renewable energy infrastructure, particularly solar and wind power projects, is creating demand for specialised cables. Photovoltaic installations require durable solar cables to connect electrical components, while India's target of achieving 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030 is expected to support further demand.
- Railway electrification and infrastructure development represent important growth opportunities for the wires and cables industry. Investments in railway networks, metro projects, and other transportation infrastructure require cables for power distribution, electrical connections, and control systems.
- The construction sector contributes to demand for housing and building wires used in residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Increasing construction activity and infrastructure development are expected to support the requirement for reliable electrical wiring and distribution systems.
- Industrial sectors, including manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, and other infrastructure-related industries, require specialised power and control cables for electrical equipment and industrial control systems. Demand from these applications supports the need for cables designed to meet specific operational and environmental requirements.
- The growing scale of renewable energy installations is increasing the requirement for transmission infrastructure to transport electricity from generation centres to consumption centres. The industry overview highlights that India's target of 500 gigawatts of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030 is expected to drive investment in transmission networks and associated electrical equipment.
- The wires and cables industry faces challenges from competition among established domestic and multinational manufacturers, as well as regional producers. Fluctuations in the prices of key raw materials, including copper, aluminium, and polymers, can affect manufacturing costs and profitability. Changes in construction and industrial activity, along with regulatory and policy developments, may also influence market demand and operating performance.

Strengths and Opportunities of Johnsoncab Electricals IPO
1. The company has demonstrated consistent growth in revenue from operations, increasing from ₹88.34 crore in FY2024 to ₹139.79 crore in FY2025 and ₹210.47 crore in FY2026. This growth reflects business scalability, increased product demand, expanded manufacturing capabilities and execution of orders from government and private-sector customers.
2. The company operates under the established “JOHNSON CABLES” brand, which has been associated with the wires and cables industry for several years. Its brand recognition among customers and dealers supports customer acquisition, repeat business and marketing across multiple product categories.
3. The company maintains quality and safety standards through ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and BIS certifications. It has also received recognitions such as the Best Product Award from the Government of Gujarat, the Quality Excellence Award at the Gujarat MSME Business Conclave 2025 and the Pride of North Gujarat recognition.
4. Its presence across power transmission and distribution, renewable energy, railways, infrastructure and industrial applications diversifies its customer base. This allows the company to serve multiple end-user sectors rather than depend entirely on a single industry.
5. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in Mehsana, Gujarat, with a combined installed capacity of 79,950 kilometres per annum as of FY2026. Its production and testing infrastructure, along with investments in plant and machinery, supports manufacturing across different wire and cable specifications.
6. The company plans to expand its manufacturing capacity by constructing an additional factory shed and installing plant and machinery at Unit II. The proposed expansion is expected to increase installed capacity by 1,67,580 kilometres, improve operational flexibility and help meet demand from existing and prospective customers.
Risks and Threats of Johnsoncab Electricals IPO
1. The company operates in a highly competitive wires and cables industry, facing established national brands, multinational manufacturers and regional players. Competitors with larger manufacturing capacities, broader product portfolios and stronger distribution networks may create pricing pressure and affect the company’s market position.
2. The company is exposed to fluctuations in the prices of key raw materials, including copper, aluminium and PVC. Significant increases in these costs may raise manufacturing expenses and reduce profit margins if the company cannot pass the higher costs on to customers.
3. The company’s operations are working capital-intensive because it needs to maintain adequate inventories of raw materials such as copper and aluminium and extend credit to customers. Inefficient working capital management could adversely affect its liquidity, cash flows and operational performance.
4. A slowdown in economic activity or a decline in construction and industrial activity could reduce demand for the company’s wires and cables. Adverse macroeconomic conditions, inflation, interest-rate changes and supply-chain disruptions may also affect customer purchasing capacity and business performance.
5. Changes in government policies, regulations, taxation or compliance requirements could increase operating costs and adversely affect the company’s profitability and demand for its products. Unanticipated regulatory changes may also require adjustments to its business operations.
6. The company’s future growth depends partly on successfully implementing its proposed manufacturing expansion and other growth initiatives. Delays or difficulties in expanding capacity, installing machinery, improving operational efficiency or meeting customer requirements could restrict its ability to capitalise on anticipated demand and affect future business performance.
