Aragen Life Sciences Limited was originally incorporated as GVK Biosciences Private Limited on December 7, 2000, under the Companies Act, 1956, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The company changed its name to Aragen Life Sciences Private Limited on December 16, 2020. Subsequently, it was converted into a public limited company and renamed Aragen Life Sciences Limited, with a fresh certificate of incorporation issued on March 28, 2023. The company is headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana, and operates as a Contract Research, Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CRDMO), providing integrated services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other life sciences companies.

The company offers services across the drug development value chain through its Contract Research Organisation (CRO) and Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) businesses. Its CRO services include drug discovery, preclinical research, biology, medicinal and synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, antibody discovery, protein sciences, DMPK, pharmacology, and biosafety assessment.

Its CDMO business provides process research, development, analytical services, and manufacturing capabilities for small molecules and biologics, supporting customers from early-stage development to commercial manufacturing. Aragen has more than 25 years of experience in the life sciences industry. It commenced its CRO business in 2002 and expanded its capabilities into biologics in 2014.

Its integrated service portfolio covers small molecules, biologics, peptides, oligonucleotides, nucleic acid chemistry, PROTACs, lipids, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The company also provides gene-to-GMP biologics development capabilities, covering cell line development, process development, and manufacturing.

As of March 31, 2026, the company served 591 customers globally, including large pharmaceutical companies, emerging biotechnology companies, and mid-sized pharmaceutical businesses. Its customers operate across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, animal health, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals. During the same period, the company had worked with 16 of the world's 20 largest pharmaceutical companies.

Aragen operates six facilities across India and the United States, covering a total area of approximately 2 million square feet. Its facilities are located in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Pune, and Morgan Hill, California. These facilities include discovery research and development laboratories, development and manufacturing facilities, and a GLP-compliant biosafety assessment facility. The company also maintains regional offices in India, the Netherlands, and the United States, along with sales personnel in China, Japan, Germany, and Switzerland.

Strengths and Opportunities of Aragen Life Sciences IPO

1. Aragen is one of the three Indian CRDMOs with strong capabilities across both small molecules and biologics. Its integrated offerings cover drug discovery, development, analytical services and manufacturing, enabling it to support customers across multiple stages of the drug development lifecycle.

2. The company served 591 customers during Fiscal 2026, including 16 of the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies and over 100 small and biotechnology companies. Its top 20 Big Pharma customers had an average relationship tenure of more than five years as of March 31, 2026, supporting long-term customer relationships and revenue visibility.

3. Aragen has a strong scientific workforce, with 3,412 scientific personnel as of March 31, 2026. It also has the highest PhD-to-scientific personnel ratio among assessed Indian CRDMO peers at 14.04%. Its discovery laboratories recorded utilisation of over 85% in Fiscal 2026, while more than 0.40 million square feet of ready-to-deploy laboratory capacity provides scope to accommodate additional demand.

4. Aragen's integrated gene-to-GMP biologics platform combines US-based cell line development with manufacturing capabilities in India. The company plans to increase its biologics GMP manufacturing capacity from 2.50 KL to 8.50 KL by Fiscal 2028, with potential expansion to 21.50 KL over the following three years. It also plans to establish a biologics drug product fill-and-finish facility and develop bioconjugation capabilities for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

5. The company intends to increase its small molecule CDMO capacity from 364.12 KL to over 600 KL by Fiscal 2028–29 and further to over 850 KL by Fiscal 2029–30. Planned investments in high-potent active pharmaceutical ingredient (HPAPI) manufacturing, flow chemistry and drug product facilities are expected to strengthen its capabilities and help capture late-stage and commercial manufacturing opportunities.

6. The growing adoption of outsourcing by pharmaceutical companies, increasing demand for integrated CRDMO services and China+1 sourcing strategies present opportunities for Indian service providers. Aragen's revenue from operations grew by 18.06% in Fiscal 2026, while its CDMO revenue grew at a CAGR of 19.15% between Fiscal 2024 and Fiscal 2026, positioning it to benefit from increasing outsourcing demand.

Risks and Threats of Aragen Life Sciences IPO

1. The company depends on a limited number of key customers for a significant portion of its revenue. Its top 10 customers contributed 43.29% of revenue from operations in Fiscal 2026, compared with 35.41% in Fiscal 2025 and 31.36% in Fiscal 2024. Any loss of key customers, reduction in business or renegotiation of contractual terms could adversely affect its revenue and profitability.

2. A substantial portion of the company's revenue is generated from international markets, exposing it to foreign exchange fluctuations, geopolitical developments, trade restrictions and changes in international regulations. North America, Europe and the rest of the world contributed 94.78% of its revenue from operations in Fiscal 2026. Additionally, any adverse changes in US tariffs or China+1 sourcing strategies could affect demand for its services.

3. The company's operations are subject to stringent regulatory requirements, technical specifications and quality standards. Its manufacturing facilities undergo periodic inspections and audits by regulatory authorities and customers. Any failure to comply with applicable regulations, manufacturing defects, quality control issues or data integrity lapses could result in regulatory action, production interruptions, termination of customer contracts and reputational damage.

4. The CRDMO industry is highly competitive, with companies competing on pricing, technical capabilities, regulatory approvals and service offerings. Increasing competition from global service providers, specialised CRDMOs and low-cost manufacturing destinations could exert pricing pressure, reduce the company's market share and adversely affect its operating margins.

5. The company's business requires substantial capital investment in specialised infrastructure, manufacturing facilities, equipment and advanced technologies. Its recent capacity expansions may take time to achieve optimal utilisation, while delays in customer programmes or lower-than-expected demand could affect capacity utilisation, profitability and returns on investment. Its small molecule CDMO facilities operated at 46.66% capacity utilisation in Fiscal 2026.

6. The company relies on domestic and international third-party suppliers for raw materials, intermediates and specialised equipment. Its top 10 suppliers accounted for 32.91% of total purchases in Fiscal 2026. Any disruption in supply, increase in procurement costs, inability to retain key suppliers or shortage of critical inputs could affect production schedules, delivery commitments and financial performance.
