Physical commodities are tangible goods, in contrast to futures. They are physical products such as grains, metals, and energy sources that are traded in markets. These commodities are used for consumption or production and have a physical existence. Unlike futures, which are contracts for the delivery of goods at a later date, physical commodities are immediately available for purchase. Investing in physical commodities can provide diversification and inflation protection in a portfolio.
