JSW Steel Limited (JSW Steel) announced its consolidated crude steel production for May 2024 at 20.98 lakh tonnes. This represents a 4% decrease year-over-year (YoY) due to a scheduled maintenance shutdown for one of its blast furnaces at the Dolvi facility.

Planned Shutdown Minimises Impact

JSW Steel successfully navigated the planned maintenance by strategically scheduling the downtime. The Dolvi blast furnace has already resumed operations as of the first week of June 2024, minimising the impact on overall production. Capacity utilisation at JSW Steel’s Indian operations remained steady at 86% for May 2024.

Positioned for Continued Growth

JSW Steel boasts an impressive three-decade journey, transforming from a single manufacturing unit to India’s leading integrated steel producer. Today, the company commands a robust capacity of 29.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) across its facilities in India and the USA.

Secured New Award

JSW Steel’s commitment to expansion remains unwavering. The company’s ambitious growth plan for India targets a total capacity of 38.5 MTPA by the end of fiscal year 2025 (FY25). At the forefront of this expansion is JSW Steel’s Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka, currently holding the distinction of India’s largest single-location steel-producing plant with a capacity of 12.5 MTPA.
