Closing Bell: Nifty 50 and Sensex End Lower, Pharma and Metal Stocks Outperform

The Indian equity indices finished lower, with the Nifty 50 down 0.14% at 24,964.25 and the Sensex down 0.28% at 81,381.36. The Nifty Bank fell 0.70% to 51,172.30, while the Nifty 500 saw a slight increase of 0.06% to 23,611.25. The Nifty VIX, a measure of market volatility, decreased by 1.24% to 13.33.
Sector Performance:
Among the sectors, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal, and Nifty Healthcare were the top performers, rising 1.19%, 0.94%, and 0.88%, respectively. In contrast, Nifty Realty and Nifty Financial Services experienced declines of 0.69% and 0.64%.
Top Gainers and Losers
The day’s top gainers included Trent, Hindalco, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, and ONGC. Conversely, TCS, M&M, ICICI Bank, Cipla, and Adani Enterprises were the main losers on the NSE.

As of 3:55 PM on October 11, 2024, Brent Crude was priced at $78.95, down 0.57%.
