The launch of the Trump administration’s Gold Card visa has attracted significant global attention. Within just five days, more than 68,000 individuals have registered for this premium visa programme that offers a fast track to US residency through a $5 million investment.
The Trump Gold Card visa scheme was officially launched on June 12, 2025, offering foreign nationals a pathway to US residency in return for a $5 million investment. The programme was promoted heavily on social media platforms, including a post by Donald Trump on Truth Social announcing the registration website.
Earlier this year, Trump referred to the card as “somewhat like a green card, but on a more sophisticated level,” stating that “wealthy individuals will enter the country by purchasing this card.”
Applicants were invited to register at trumpcard.gov, submitting basic personal information such as name, email address and geographic region. The rapid uptake reflects strong global interest in this new immigration pathway despite questions about its legal foundation.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Lutnick noted that the commerce department’s dashboard displayed 67,697 individuals on the waiting list as of Monday morning. “Just an hour later, that figure had risen to 68,703,” he remarked.
If fully implemented, the Gold Card visa could attract significant foreign investment into the US economy through the $5 million minimum investment requirement. This influx has potential economic benefits but also raises questions about regulatory oversight and the impact on immigration policy.

The Trump Gold Card visa has rapidly gained global attention, drawing over 68,000 registrations within five days of launch. However, legal ambiguities remain, and the programme’s future depends on legislative developments. Its success could have wide-reaching implications for US immigration and foreign investment.
