Samvardhana Motherson Set To Acquire 95% Stake in Japan-Based Atsumitec For $57 Million

Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (SAMIL), a leading global automotive supplier, has announced the acquisition of Japan-based Atsumitec by its wholly owned subsidiary, Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group B.V. The $57 million deal is a strategic move to enhance the company’s market presence and diversify its offerings. Shares of SAMIL saw a 4% intraday rise following the announcement.
Key Details of the Acquisition
The transaction will involve Motherson acquiring 95% of Atsumitec’s shares with voting rights, while the remaining 5% will be held by Honda Motor. Atsumitec, known for producing high-precision machined components such as gear shifters and transmission parts for two- and four-wheelers, operates across Japan, Thailand, and the USA. The deal will also include the acquisition of Atsumitec’s Indonesian unit and requires merger control clearance from Japanese authorities. The completion is expected by Q1 FY2026.
