Great Eastern Shipping to Acquire Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier to Expand Fleet

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd (GE Shipping) has signed an agreement to acquire a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier built in 2015. The vessel has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of around 81,843. The deal was concluded on July 25, 2025.
According to the company filing, the vessel is expected to be delivered and join the operational fleet by the 3rd quarter of FY26. This addition is part of the company’s regular fleet operations and capacity planning.
Current Fleet Size
As of now, GE Shipping owns 38 vessels. These include 26 tankers, 5 crude oil carriers, 17 product tankers, and 4 LPG carriers, and 12 dry bulk carriers. The total capacity of the fleet stands at 3.04 million dwt. The company is operating at nearly full capacity which is close to 100%.
Capacity and Financing
Post-delivery, the fleet will increase to 39 vessels with a combined capacity of approximately 3.13 million dwt. The company noted that the new ship will be funded entirely through internal accruals.
GE Shipping’s current fleet is operating at near full utilisation. The company has not indicated any change in route, cargo type, or service plan following the vessel’s induction.
There is no external borrowing tied to this acquisition. The company has confirmed that the payment will be made using existing reserves without raising fresh capital.

GE Shipping Share Price
As of 9:10 AM on July 28, 2025, GE Shipping share price was trading at ₹957.05, a 0.5% decrease.
