SAIL Share Price Dips 3.51%; Reports Decrease in Revenue and Profit in Q2 FY 2025 Financial Results

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced its financial results for the second quarter and first half of the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024.
Q2 FY25 Performance Highlights (Standalone)
In the second quarter of FY25, SAIL’s crude steel production stood at 4.76 million tonnes, slightly lower than the 4.80 million tonnes produced in Q2 FY24. Revenue from operations declined to ₹24,675 crore in Q2 FY25, compared to ₹29,714 crore in the same period last year.
Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) for Q2 FY25 were ₹3,174 crore, down from ₹4,043 crore in Q2 FY24. Profit After Tax (PAT) for the quarter saw a decrease to ₹834 crore, compared to ₹1,241 crore in Q2 FY24.
H1 FY25 Performance Highlights (Standalone)
For the first half of FY25, SAIL’s crude steel production was 9.46 million tonnes, maintaining close alignment with the 9.47 million tonnes produced in H1 FY24. Revenue from operations reached ₹48,672 crore in H1 FY25, down from ₹54,071 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
EBITDA for H1 FY25 came in at ₹5,593 crore, a decline from the ₹6,132 crore recorded in H1 FY24. Similarly, PAT decreased to ₹844 crore in H1 FY25, compared to ₹1,390 crore in H1 FY24.
Commenting on the performance for the quarter, the Chairman of SAIL, Shri Amarendu Prakash said, “We expect H2 FY’25 to bring more promising results compared to HI FY’25, which was impacted by various challenges. Moving forward, with an expected downtrend in steel imports and projected growth in GDP & capital expenditure, H2 FY’25 may yield better performance.”

On November 8, 2024, SAIL share price opened at ₹120.50, down from its previous close of ₹123.36. At 9:45 AM, the share price of SAIL was trading at ₹119.03, down by 3.51%.
