In a significant development for India’s solar manufacturing industry, Premier Energies Limited has announced the successful commissioning of a new 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell line at Fab City, Hyderabad. The company continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and nation-building through clean energy technologies.
Premier Energies has become one of the first few Indian manufacturers to operationalise the cutting-edge TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar technology. This 1.2 GW line is capable of delivering solar cell efficiencies exceeding 25%, supported by a 16-busbar architecture that enhances power density and boosts energy yield under real-world conditions.
This advancement is a key step in the company’s journey toward next-generation solar solutions. The firm’s current target includes scaling its cell and module production capacity to 8.4 GW and 11.1 GW, respectively, by June 2026.
The commissioning supports Premier Energies’ strategic roadmap of developing a vertically integrated and high-efficiency manufacturing model—from ingots and wafers to cells and modules. This model aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at self-reliance in critical sectors. With this launch, Premier Energies’ solar cell manufacturing capacity has risen from 2 GW to 3.2 GW, reinforcing its position as a leader in the solar manufacturing sector.
