This initiative aims to empower rural women by providing them with the opportunity to work as insurance agents, known as Bima Sakhis. The scheme is designed to not only create livelihood opportunities but also to promote insurance awareness in rural areas, helping bridge the gap in insurance penetration across underserved regions of India.

Key Features and Income Structure of the Bima Sakhi Yojana

The LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana offers rural women an opportunity to earn a steady income while enhancing their understanding of insurance. Under this scheme, women can earn between ₹7,000 and ₹21,000 per month, with the income structure changing over the course of three years. In the first year, participants will receive ₹7,000 per month, followed by ₹6,000 in the second year, and ₹5,000 in the third year. Additionally, commission-based incentives will be provided to those who meet or exceed their sales targets.

In the first phase of the program, LIC plans to recruit 35,000 women as Bima Sakhis, with the program set to expand to include an additional 50,000 women in future phases. Initially launched in Haryana, the initiative will eventually be rolled out nationwide, offering women across India the opportunity to become a part of this empowering program.
