Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, has signed on as the Title Sponsor for the Hockey India League for the next 3 seasons, starting from 2024-25.
The partnership aims to rejuvenate hockey, one of India’s most celebrated sports, by providing a larger platform for emerging talent and promoting the game nationwide.
For the first time, the league will feature 4 women’s teams alongside 8 men’s teams. This inclusion highlights a milestone in promoting women’s participation in Indian hockey. The league begins on December 28, 2024. Matches will be broadcast across television, digital platforms, and radio, ensuring fans stay engaged with every moment.
Speaking on the partnership, Sanjay Bhan, Executive Vice President of Hero MotoCorp, said, “Hero MotoCorp is deeply committed to nurturing and supporting sports globally, with a special emphasis on India. With Hero MotoCorp’s sponsorship, the league aims to develop hockey, inspire young athletes, and showcase Indian talent on the global stage, advancing the sport’s growth in India.
Hero MotoCorp, formerly known as “Hero Honda,” is one of India’s first motorcycle manufacturers. The company began in 1984 as a partnership with Honda, Japan. Before this collaboration, Hero was known for selling bicycles under the brand name Hero Cycles. In 2011, Honda sold its 26% stake to the Munjal family, ending the joint venture. After this, the company was rebranded as Hero MotoCorp.
On December 16, 2024, Hero MotoCorp share price opened at ₹4,590.00 today, reaching the same as its high, and recorded a low of ₹4,533.10. As of 9:40 AM, it traded at ₹4,536.60, down ₹38.85 (0.85%).
