AceVector, the company behind Snapdeal, has confidentially submitted its IPO papers to SEBI. This move was announced by AceVector on Saturday, stating they have "pre-filed the draft red herring prospectus" for their equity shares to be listed on major stock exchanges.
Based in Gurugram, AceVector isn't just about Snapdeal. The company also runs Unicommerce, a software platform for businesses, and Stellar Brands, a company that builds consumer brands. Unicommerce itself went public in 2024 and saw huge success with its IPO, being oversubscribed by a remarkable 168.32 times.
AceVector, founded by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, chose a confidential pre-filing approach for their IPO. This method allows companies to keep the details of their IPO private until later stages. This route is becoming increasingly popular among Indian companies because it offers more flexibility for their IPO plans.
In recent times, many well-known companies have taken this confidential path. These include INOX Clean Energy, logistics firm Shadowfax Technologies, and edtech giant PhysicsWallah. Even food delivery major Swiggy and retail chain Vishal Mega Mart used similar filings for their IPOs in 2024.
The confidential pre-filing route gives companies several advantages. For instance, it provides greater flexibility to companies and reduces the pressure to go public quickly. Unlike the traditional IPO route, which requires a company to launch its IPO within 12 months of getting SEBI's approval, the pre-filing route extends this period to 18 months. Additionally, companies can change the size of the primary share issue by up to 50% until the updated prospectus is filed.

AceVector’s move to file confidentially for an IPO shows that more Indian companies prefer the flexible pre-filing method. With its experience from Unicommerce’s successful IPO and strong brand value from Snapdeal, AceVector may receive a positive response from investors when it finally goes public.
