On September 24, 2024, Balu Forge Industries Ltd, a prominent precision engineering company engaged in manufacturing of crankshafts & forged components, announced the successful acquisition of 7 Axis CNC machines, which are designed for critical applications in industries such as aerospace, defence, and railways.
This new equipment will enhance the company’s ability to produce precision-engineered components and expand its product offerings in these key sectors. The CNC machines, sourced from a well-known German manufacturer, can machine parts up to 3 meters long and enable the creation of high-precision products using various alloys, from aluminium to titanium.
With this technology, BFIL will be able to manufacture complex geometries, improve precision, increase flexibility, and make better use of materials, all while machining intricate products in a single setup.
The company plans to focus on high-precision components, including turbine parts, aircraft frames, engine components, landing gear parts, weapon system components, vehicle parts, locomotive parts, frame structures, track components, valve bodies, and pump components in the oil and gas sector.
The major focus area for this acquisition is to move into a more elite category of machining companies capable of offering advanced and critical machining solutions specific to industries like Railways, Defence, Aerospace, and other critical precision industries globally.
Commenting on the announcement, Trimaan Chandock, Executive Director of BFIL, stated, “We are pleased to share with all our stakeholders that your company has entered a very niche area of precision machining where only a handful of companies exist globally. This acquisition is a testament to our larger strategy of moving away from being a pure forging player to a precision engineering company where we stay true to our strategy towards supply of only value added/fully machined parts to our patrons globally.”
He further added, “The recent acquisition will also be an enabler to strengthen the presence in more critical engineering areas of aerospace & Defence. We have maintained the strategy which was envisioned many decades ago of being a precision engineering company & only offering highly critical solutions for niche industries. Our strategy will continue to stay in line with our overall vision to propel the company to the next chapter of growth.”
Balu Forge Industries Ltd (BFIL), established in 1989, specialises in manufacturing both fully finished and semi-finished crankshafts and forged components. The company can produce parts that meet the latest emission standards and are compatible with new energy vehicles. BFIL has a fully integrated forging and machining facility, offering a wide range of products from 1 kg to 1,000 kg. It has an extensive global distribution network of over 80 partners and serves both domestic and international markets.
