Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks saw some further upside over the course of the trading day on Thursday. The major averages managed to remain firmly positive after reversing direction from their initial moves in each of the two previous sessions. Dow surged up 326.15 points or 1.3 percent to 26362 and the Nasdaq soared 116.51 points or 1.5 percent to 7973.

The UK stocks held steady on Thursday and the pound edged lower a day after Prime Minister Boris Johnson decided to prorogue parliament ahead of the Brexit deadline. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.9 per cent to 7184.

On domestic front Indian shares ended a volatile session lower on Thursday with financials coming under selling pressure on eve of expiry of the August series derivative contracts. The benchmark BSE Sensex ended down by 1.1 percent to 37068.
