Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks showed a lack of direction over the course of the trading session on Thursday. The major averages spent the day bouncing back and forth across the unchanged line before closing mixed. While the Dow moved up by 0.2 per cent to 26252 the Nasdaq fell by 0.4 percent to 7991.

The UK stocks fell on Thursday after minutes from the Federal Reserves most recent meeting failed to provide clarity about further U.S. interest rate cuts. The FTSE 100 fell by 0.7 per cent to 7156.

On domestic front Indian shares fell heavily on Thursday amid growth concerns after minutes of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held on August 7 highlighted several indicators of a slowdown in the economy. The benchmark BSE Sensex slumped by 1.6 percent to 36473.
