Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks fluctuated over the course of morning trading on Tuesday before coming under pressure in the afternoon. The major averages slid more firmly into negative territory partly offsetting the strong upward move seen over the two previous sessions. Both the Dow and the Nasdaq fell by 0.7 percent to 25962 and 7948 respectively.

The UK stocks inched higher on Tuesday as the pound weakened and drugmaker AstraZeneca announced positive results from the landmark Phase III DAPAHF trial. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.3 percent to 7210.

On domestic front Indian shares ended modestly lower on Tuesday to snap a threeday winning streak with banks coming under selling pressure on news of financial irregularities in CG Power and Industrial Solutions. The benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 0.2 percent to 37328.
