History of Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL)

Incorporated in 2006, Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) is involved in the business of construction of railways, roads, and utility projects. Dilip Buildcon Limited’s journey began in 1987 when they opened a small construction firm in Bhopal called Dilip Builders. In 1993, the company got a major project as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor for Ansal Housing. In 1995, they won a competitive bid to construct Indian Oil Corporation Limited's corporate office in Madhya Pradesh. In 1996, the company bought their first stone crusher as part of its backward integration strategy. This was followed by the purchase of a truck and excavator. In 1997, Dilip Builders started expanding their operations beyond Bhopal and constructed a hospital for the Red Cross Society in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh. In two years, i.e., by 1999, they started taking on multiple residential, office, and road projects in Rajgarh. In 2006, the company became one of the leading players in EPC and Dilip Builcon was incorporated. In 2009, DBL went outside Madhya Pradesh and took up a road project in Himachal Pradesh, where they constructed two roads: Bhawarna - Lambagaon Package - 10 and Ranital - Kotla Package - 07. The next year, in 2010, the company won their largest EPC project to date, the 4-laning Ahmedabad - Godhra NH - 59 bridge project in Gujarat. The project value was ₹10,189.9 million. In 2013, Dilip Buildcon entered the urban development sector with the Mardanpur Water Supply project. In 2014, the company entered into the irrigation sector with the Mohanpura Major Multipurpose project. The next year, they entered the mining sector with the Nigahi OpenCast Project (OCP) of NCL. In 2016, Dilip Buildcon Limited went public and got listed on the stock exchanges. In 2019, the company entered into tunnels and metro segment construction. As of March 2023, the company had a presence in 19 states and 1 Union Territory in India. They have more than 10,000 machines required for construction.

  • Jalpa Devi Engineering Private Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company is engaged in the business of engineering, manufacturing, casting, producing, recycling, upcycling, reconstructing, assembling and other activities related to equipment, machinery, tools etc.
  • DBL-Siarmal Coal Mines Private Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company is involved in the business of mine developer and operator for the development and operation of Siarmal OCP in Sundergarh, Odisha.
