About Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited (Chola) was founded in 1978. The company was established as the financial services arm of the Murugappa Group. The company commenced business as an equipment financing company. Since then, it has grown as a comprehensive financial services provider offering home loans, vehicle finance, loans against property (LAP), SME loans, secured business personal loans (SBPL), consumer and small enterprises loans (CSEL) and a variety of other financial services to customers.

The company was listed on BSE in 1991 after an IPO. During the same year, Chola expanded its product range by launching automobile finance under its Credit Cars Scheme. New Ambadi Investments Pvt Ltd  (NAIL) acquired a 14.9% stake in 2000. 

The company’s name was changed to Cholamandalam DBS Finance Ltd from Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Ltd. in 2006. After 4 years, Its name was again changed from M/s. Cholamandalam DBS Finance Ltd to M/s. Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd in 2010. In 2016, the company strengthened its footprint in Karnataka by opening 4 new branches. The company launched its co-lending business with technology from Nucleus Software in 2020. Chola won the 2nd Prize for Digitization in HR at the CII National HR Circle Competition 2019.

  • Business Vehicle Loan: The company possesses an experience of over 3 decades in vehicle finance. It is a dominant player with a strong presence in rural, semi-urban and urban markets.
  • Loan Against Property (LAP): Chola is a major player in the Indian NFBC LAP market with over ₹ 21,000 crore assets under management. Under this segment, the company’s products include Business loans against property (Prime LAP) and Micro loans against property (Micro LAP).
  • Home Loans: The company has emerged as a leading home loan provider to lower middle-income families in urban and semi-urban markets with an AUM of over ₹8,000 crore.
  • Consumer & Small Enterprise Loan (CSEL): The company provides personal and professional under this segment.
  • Secured Business & Personal Loan (SBPL): The SBPL division provides collateral-backed business and personal loans on the basis of the credit assessment and cashow projections of businesses.
  • Small And Medium Enterprise Loans (SME): The SME division provides bouquets of products to match the requirements of working capital and capex of SMEs. The products under this segment include Supply Chain Finance, Term Loans, Equipment Finance, and Loans against Securities.

  • Cholamandalam Securities Limited (CSEC):  It is a leading stock broker in Southern India with over 20 years of operations in the financial market. CSEC provides a wide range of financial products, such as Stock Broking and Depository Participant Services.
  • Cholamandalam Home Finance Limited: This subsidiary acts as a corporate agent with a composite licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for the distribution of insurance products.
  • Payswi Technologies Private Limited: It is engaged in the business of offline payment aggregator services and provides e-commerce solutions.
