About Castrol India
Castrol India Ltd is mainly engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of industrial and automotive lubricants and related services. In 1919, it commenced operations in India through four regional offices in Mumbai, Calcutta, Delhi and Chennai. The name was changed to Castrol Ltd in 1944 and it became part of the Burmah Group in 1966.
In 1981, the Indian marketing business of Castrol was amalgamated with Indrol Lubricants & Specialities Ltd. During the subsequent year (1982), the company was incorporated under the name of Indrol Lubricants & Specialities Ltd. The company's name was changed from Indrol Lubricants & Specialities Ltd. to Castrol India Ltd, effective November 1, 1990.
In 1995, the company introduced a wide range of futuristic lubes, which helped the company maintain its position as the market leader. The company launched Castrol Active 4T, an engine oil for 4-stroke bikes in 2000. Castrol India unveiled premium quality engine oil and established a new bike service centre in Coimbatore in 2006.
In 2012, the company launched its new engine oil - Castrol GTX Modern Engine. Castrol India entered into a strategic agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in 2018. The company entered into a strategic partnership with Renault India Private Limited in the same year. The agreement allowed the company to supply aftersales engine oil lubricants to Renault.

- Lubricants: Under this segment, it manufactures and sells various kinds of oil lubricants and other fluids for cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, industrial use, the energy sector, marine and IT cooling and data centres.
- Auto Care: The company is moving into auto care with a premium range of products.

Sandeep Sangwan, Managing Director Sandeep Sangwan is the current Managing Director of Castrol India Limited. He has been in this position since January 2020. He began working at BP Plc in 2012 as a Castrol InnoVentures customer lead. Since then, he has occupied a number of national and international leadership positions for important markets in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Before joining BP, he spent over 20 years working for Gillette and P&G in China, India, the Middle East, and Europe. During that time, he had a number of senior positions in P&L delivery, marketing, and sales. He attended the Regional Engineering College (NIT), Kurukshetra, and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow.Corporate Actions
