
HCL Technologies has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s telecom-focused Communications Technology Group in a deal valued at up to $160 million, as per exchange filings.
The acquisition marks a significant expansion of HCLTech’s product-led telecom portfolio, adding advanced software platforms used by telecom operators globally and deepening its presence across the communications ecosystem.
The transaction includes up to $160 million, including $15 million of incentives based upon FY25 performance with 100% cash consideration. The business being acquired serves more than 300 telecom customers and supports over 200 live networks worldwide, enabling connectivity for more than one billion end users.
Around 1,500 specialised telecom professionals will transition to HCLTech as part of the deal, strengthening its engineering and product development capabilities across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
The acquisition enhances HCLTech’s capabilities in telecom software, network cloud platforms, AI-enabled systems and cloud-native 5G solutions. The business will be integrated into HCLTech’s Technology, Media and Telecom vertical, supporting its focus on IP-led platforms and product engineering for communication service providers and enterprises.
Commenting on the acquisition, Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of TMT at HCLTech, said the deal would “significantly strengthen our telecom product engineering and platform capabilities, enabling us to deliver differentiated solutions to global customers.”

As of December 19, 2025, at 10:40 AM, HCL Technologies Ltd share price is trading at ₹1,651.10 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.62% from the previous closing price. Over the past month, the stock has declined by 0.69%.
With this acquisition, HCLTech reinforces its position as a global telecom technology partner, combining deep engineering expertise with a large installed base of telecom software platforms. The deal strengthens its ability to serve next-generation network requirements as demand for AI-driven, cloud-native and 5G solutions accelerates across global telecom markets.
